Vincent Kompany insists he is not nervous ahead of Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga debut at Wolfsburg on Sunday, Ufabet Germany reported on Saturday.
Kompany took over from Thomas Tuchel as Bayern manager this summer amid doubts over his experience, having only worked at Anderlecht and Burnley, while Bayern Munich are looking to reclaim the glory of Leverkusen, who were unbeaten in the Bundesliga last season.
Asked if he was nervous about leading the Bavarian side to their Bundesliga debut at Wolfsburg on Sunday, the 38-year-old replied: ‘No, definitely not. But for me it’s always been like that. It’s a big challenge.’
‘We have prepared well with UFABET the team and the coaching staff. Now it’s up to the players to play tomorrow. I’m very excited.’
Kompany, who won four Premier League titles during his time at City and has 89 caps for Belgium, admitted Leverkusen remain a formidable opponent after the defending champions beat Borussia Mönchengladbach 3-2 in their opening game of the season on Friday.
‘Leverkusen did a great job last season,’ Kompany said of their main rivals. ‘I think we need to get around 90 points to win it again, so we need everyone to play at their best.’
The 38-year-old also mentioned that summer signings Michael Olise and Joao Palhinha are likely to feature at Wolfsburg on Sunday.
‘There is a high chance they will play more this season, but I will keep it a secret until tomorrow.’
