Ayoze Perez reveals it was a special feeling to score his first Villarreal goal as he leads new club to victory over Sevilla.
Villarreal’s new striker Ayoze Perez was the hero for his new club after scoring a stoppage-time winner in Friday’s 2-1 La Liga win at Sevilla.
Ayoze joined Villarreal from Real Betis for €4m, which was the player’s release clause, and the 31-year-old striker scored the winner in stoppage time 90+5 to lead the Yellow Submarine to a 2-1 victory over Sevilla.
‘I scored here against Betis, it’s a special feeling. I feel inside what a derby is like and you always feel different. It feels good, especially because it was the first goal against Villarreal and we got the three points,’ Ayoze said.
The 31-year-old forward has also spoken about his feelings on the move to Villarreal, with reports from Real Betis, particularly club president Angel Aro, calling the move a ‘surprise’.
‘There was a lot of gossip, a lot of lies about ยูฟ่าเบท this situation. It was a good time to talk about it, but that’s football. In life, decisions have to be made. I thought that was the best thing for me and in the end I made that decision.’
‘I am one of those people who would say that a half-truth is worse than a lie, but I don’t give it much more importance than that.’
